Causeway Business Education Partnership Careers Event assists local students with Careers Choices

Another successful Careers Event was hosted last Friday 1st March at the Lodge Hotel Coleraine, by CBEP, the “Causeway Business Education Partnership”, a 25 years strong partnership between Causeway Enterprise Agency and the local education providers, schools and colleges. With over 1400 students attending the event during the course of the day, a busy time was had by exhibitors at the event, where they engaged with the local students and talked over Career options with them!

Students were able to access information and guidance from over 60 exhibitors at the event, which included Universities from England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, Local Regional Colleges, Northern Irish Employers, Associations and other organisations. This year CBEP welcomed some newcomers at the event, in particular “Welcome Causeway” a Causeway Chamber of Commerce initiative, representing careers in Hospitality & Catering Industries.

Year 12 Students came from schools all over the Causeway Coast area, from Ballycastle to Limavady, Dungiven, Ballymoney & Coleraine to attend the event to find out more about Careers in Engineering, ICT, Hairdressing & Beauty, Catering, Travel & Tourism, Retail, Accountancy, Law, Architecture, Surveying, Construction, Banking, Army, Navy & RAF Careers and more. The room was buzzing with conversations and fantastic engagement was noted between the students and exhibitors this year, proving that this event is more than worthwhile for students.Teachers agreed, saying that “This event provides Careers options that students weren’t aware of”.

The event gave students the opportunity to talk directly with the representatives from the various career areas and provided some direction on which move to make next, whether that be choosing A-level subjects or moving onto a vocational course, an apprenticeship or Higher Level Apprenticeship.

Causeway Business Education Partnership is funded by The Honourable The Irish Society and we were also delighted that the event was promoted as part of Enterprise Week, sponsored by Causeway Coast & Glens Council.

Overcoming Imposter Syndrome

by Fiona Bradley Consulting

Date And Time

Imposter Syndrome is a fear-based response with those suffering fearing they are ‘never enough’.

It undermines the fantastic work of many highly talented individuals resulting in them not achieving their highest potential, holding them back from leaning into greater opportunities and it increases stress and burnout, all of which obstruct them in achieving their goals and ambitions.

Our workshops can help you overcome these issues, enabling you to explore assertiveness and confidence; helping you to reclaim your power and personal authority through realising and valuing your unique talents and strengths.

Our half day workshop looks at overcoming imposter syndrome & confidence building.

Understanding Emotional Wellbeing and Resilience

Understanding Emotional Wellbeing and Resilience

(A Level1 endorsed qualification)

Date    Friday 7th June 2019
Time    10.00am to 1.00pm
Location    Enterprise Causeway
    17 Sandel Village
    Knocklynn Road
    BT52 1WW
    Driving Directions
Cost    £75pp (Social value discount considered for not for profit and social impact organisations).

What does it cover?

This training upskills its participants to understand emotional wellbeing and build resilience for their own mental health. It discusses a range of topics including stigma, signs and symptoms of mental ill health, coping strategies, engaging with others about mental health, supports, and self-care. Our mission is to take the mental health struggle out of the shadows and support organisations to engage with their staff and clients to improve their emotional wellbeing.

Who is it suitable for?

This training is suitable for everyone – employees and employers, clients and service users or group participants.

What is the format?

The training is an endorsed program that consists of a 3–hour workshop (inclusive of breaks) for up to 15 participants per group.

Why choose this program?

This is not the usual mental health Awareness presentation provided by many other organisations. Each training program is delivered by 2 fully trained facilitators who bring a unique combination of professional expertise and lived experience to the participants. The Hummingbird Project delivers interactive, strengths based, facilitated learning. We deliver the learning outcomes by supporting the group to identify their own barriers and difficulties and collaboratively gain insights and produce solutions that work for them as a group and as individuals.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of completing this program, participants will achieve:

  • A greater understanding of signs and symptoms of poor emotional wellbeing and the impact of mental health
  • Skills to build their own emotional resilience and support the resilience of others
  • Increased confidence in being able to engage about emotional wellbeing
  • A reduction of stigma and removal of negative viewpoints regarding mental ill health
